Day 1
Departed at 12am. Met in McD, Centerpoint. Bus ride to Johor's jetty port took about 5 hours.
|
I just got up. Dont mind the face. Hahaha! |
Had roti canai and noticed a pair of eyes which made me lose my appetite a little. Haha. Only yesterday i found out they (I didnt see the other pair. Lol!) did that on purpose. Hahaha! Meanies. ;P
So we took the jetty to Pulau Besar (Formerly known as Pulau Babi Besar) got off and had a short briefing and intro session. We got to know who our facilitators are.
|
This is the place our things got confiscated/given for safe keeping? |
They confiscated all our food and valuable items. Never knew that. I had cupcakes. =( Then as a "Foreigner" i had to pick a group. I picked Melanau because i saw their enthusiasm in the bus and jetty and i instantly knew they are the one i would love to join. My second choice was actually Dusun. But yeah, i got into Melanau and never regretted. They invited me with open arms and immediately treated me like family.
|
That is Gary. See him? Haha! |
We left to look for our campsite. We thought ours would be at the really nice place under the tree but Gary (Official camera man for the camp) hinted that, that wasnt where our campsite is. Damn. Haha! But oh well, i dare say we got the best spot. We were the closest to the beach. Others were closer to the jungle behind. Haha. =) Plus, there were alot of branches on the sand so we had more wood for that night to burn as compared to others. On the way to looking for our site we saw a dead blowfish (No picture). How cute is that eh? Answer: Super. Haha.
We started building our shelter (No, i wouldnt call it a tent. It wasnt much of a tent anyways). Got one hell of a time from the trainer for not doing more research as we built out tent on a flood prone area. We (4 from Melanau) then played our second game which would win us our dinner for the night and the other 4 stayed back to redo the shelter.
The game required us to run from one end of the island to the other. Gosh that was one hell of a exercise (Which i have to agree i was lacking of). We were the second team to break the code but last to reach the destination because we never followed instructions which would have saved us more time. However, the last team to break the code won first in the game and got all the food. Oh did i mention we killed the chicken? Yeah, there goes a beautiful life. Not to mention we got the BIGGEST chicken. *Sobs* Im sorry little chicken. R.I.P.
Saw a beautiful kingfisher and monitor lizard while trying to finish the game.
As we went back to our tribes, our PM, DPM, Mayor and Chef was done cooking dinner (Cabbage, Tomato sauce and fish) which was, i dare cross my heart and say, SCRUMPTILICIOUS! Hehe. Never knew water, lemon and fish/cabbage/tomato would taste soo good! No, i wasnt starving. They were just really good at what they did. We shared food with other tribes to "survive" for the rest of the night.
That night, i slept like a dead man. Haha.. The facilitators came to check on us, took our pictures (with flash) and hang mosquito coils and i didnt even know. Damn i looked baad sleeping. Haha. Its not like Cam hasnt taken my picture but the big difference is that my picture wasnt projected 100% on a whiteboard! Damn. Haha. As you can tell, they really do care. They never got as much rest as we did. They came to our little house at 3 or4. *Touched* Thank you.

Thats Robin, our trainer. 55 and awesome! |
Day 2
Started the day without breakfast (Yes, we got up a little late- 6.30) We had to all get ready for jungle trecking. Pheewww! What a tiring day. I felt so useless that time. And ofcourse i have to agree with Robin, our trainer, that we are all, or in this case, "i am" spending way too much time in my room infront of my laptop.
Climbing the steep slopes of the jungle and sliding down muddy areas felt like i was having nightmares under the bright day light. Haha. I was lucky i had Danny (jungle trekking buddy) and Siva (diplomat) there encouraging this big piece of fat lard to move. Lol. I havent used so much strength in so long that i now have little "mice" in my arms. Yes, im talking about visible muscles (Though not really visible but its there) Haha. Anyways, we were promised "sight seeing" as we reached. Trust me, being in the jungle for an hour working every inch of your body, seeing the beach itself was beautiful. Robin i salute you. You do walk the talk. =) And i guess the other sight seeing was the sun? Where we were taught to exercise our eyes to prevent san kong (Dont know how to say it in english). I was facing the sun. Ouch i couldnt open my eyes. At all.
Robin was like "Shiok Leng open your eyes!"
I did try my best but as he looked away i had to squint my eyes again.
Ouuuch!
We took 15-20 mins rest before we started our way back to the other side. On the way back we followed the 2nd group to leave the beach. My buddy, Danny, is an awesome dude. He was really caring as he would always turn back to make sure i was behind him. Haha. Thank you. As we reached the place, i couldnt think of anything else but getting back to the briefing area drink loads of water and rest. And guess what? Thats exactly what i did when i got back. We had to write stuff about our buddy and about the journey back and forth during the jungle trekking. Hahaha.
Today is the day we got the KEYS to our resort. Ahhh~ I went in and the next thing you know, i was down. Hahaha... While waiting for my roommate (Terrenze) to shower, i fell asleep. Though right now i am kind of wishing that i get to cramp in the small shelter sleeping on the sleeping bags with the Melanau-ians. =) Kinda miss that. That night we had BBQ for dinner. Got signatures from President Kelly and Tan Sri (...). Id write his full name but its REALLY long.. Trust me. Haha. =)
|
This is where we sat for awhile. Imagine this place dark with a reddish orangey moon. Pretty? Yeah, i thought so too. |
This was the very night i couldnt sleep. So the 7 of us (Atta, Watson, Mushiira, Anthony, Gareth, Jacky and I) went walking around. Jacky was there for awhile only though. The rest of us went to the deck and just sat there while talking about stuff AND the guy who was talking to himself. I pity people like that. =( We slept at 2.30 that morning as we had to wake up at 6 later.
The bed was awesome but the blanket got my legs itchy as hell. Haha.
Day 3
Woke up at 6. I got the BEST fresh air that morning going around knocking on doors. I did it because only my roommate has an alarm and ours was all confiscated. Worst part is i was so tired i went back to my room, when i was done waking everyone up, i went back to sleep. Haha! Then the two nice guys came to my door and woke me up this time round. Hahaha!
|
This is where we did the stretchings and stuff. Oh this picture was taken right before we left so yeah. |
That morning we did Malaysian pilates (I still am as "flexible" as i was before. Happy) and cleaned up our campsite. Happy to see everything still standing strong. Proud of all those who built the shelter for us while we were "hunting". Haha. =) After we cleaned up we took had our breakfast and packed our things.
|
Surrounded by baaaaaaaags. |
Took our profile pictures and camwhored with the rest of the people there. =) Haha.

While waiting for our group piture. |
This is us leaving the island, the white sand, the strong wind, beautiful ocean, big blue sky. Ahh~ So long my dearest. Hehe. ;P
Then we had free dinner (Like the one we had tonight) at a rest stop. =) And "Celebrated" Rovinna a small birthday. Little muffin was given by Rtn. Albert.
Overall, it was fun. I had fun. Met tons of people and got my Facebook wall spammed once again. Nice to meet you guys and i would love to meet yall again. Hehe.
|
Our briefing area which is next to THe platform. |
|
Some hammocks and that rope and theres a tree house up there! |
|
Swing and a beautiful view! |
|
There ya go. |
I survived the survival camp. =) Ooo OOoo!! Won a bottle and got 3 juggling balls and and and a cert! =D Yay!! (Id take some pics of it but im way to lazy to go upstairs. Yeah, im downstairs at the moment)
Id like to thank the sponsoring president and Tan Sri for this memorable event. They spent so much just for us to be better leaders in the future. This camp cost only RM100 and everything is included. Bfast, lunch, dinner and resort. Like whoa right? Not yet? Ok how about this, its a 3 days 2 nights thing and only at a 100. Also the organizer for organizing this event which seriously opened my eyes to many things. Haha. =)
Plus plus plus! All those people i met. =) They are all awsomustodamaximum! I miss yall! =) Cant wait to meet up with you guys again. Especially those from Melanau's tribe.
Though, i just met them just now and one yesterday but yeah, i want to meet yall again! =) <3
Thank you thank you thank you!
