FIRST SPOILER
The movie is about a kid that suddenly falls asleep after an incident in the attic. The family thinks he is in a coma but really he traveled to far in the Further/Astral Plane/Spirit World and is almost completely detached from his physical body. The mom ends up taking care of the kid at her mother's home. Dead spirits and a demon start haunting the house trying to claim the boy's body while he is lost in the Further/Astral Plane/Spirit World.
SECOND SPOILER
The boy can't go back to his body because the demon has him chained in it's Lair.
-Waiting for the day the boys spirit completely detaches from his body so it can possessed it.
THIRD SPOILER
The family tries fighting the demon with only divination; no bible/religion or the power of God.

Movie Questions Left Unanswered
What ever happened to the other little boy, and the baby girl?
-They were never seen after the second move.
What was the Murder that occur in the house all about?
-The Girl with the shotgun.
How did the Dad break the Chains from Dalton?
[The chains were metal! He did not have the keys?]
He was able to brake the chains because he was
an authority figure to Dalton.
-He had the right to take Dalton back.
Did the Demon enter the Dalton's body, or was it Dalton?
-It was never revealed to us.
Why would Dalton keep going back to the Further if it was filled with horror and the dead?
Maybe it wasn't at first.
"There has been studies where the person who traveled tells of a world of wonder; they keep going back to explore this wonderful world, but after their third or forth visit, things in the astral world become scary, and evil."

-A human can only fight a demon with God's power, flesh can never wins against a Spirit.
The Movie played a punn on the rule : [Spirit against Spirit]
The Father was able to fight with the Demon in the Further.
In reality the human spirit if not Strong in the Spirit of God does not have a chance against a demon or even a familiar spirit.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
GOD turns the words you say into weapons, also gives you spiritual strength to fight it.
In a close encounter your Spirit Beign/Astral Form becomes strengthen to Physically fight the Evil entities.
Example:
Picture this: A Demon is coming right at you, while you are scared but standing still, you utter out spiritual words without moving away; and the demon is sent soaring through the air.

Why those Demons and Familiar Spirits needed to befriend their Travelers/Human Vessels
before they can posses their Body?
Answer-They need the Victim to repeat their Astral Projection Experience so more authority can be given to them and less protection from God. They know this rule, but the victim doesn't.
In the Spirit World GOD has given rules to every being even Satan and his Demons.
-A Demon cannot enter, harm or hunt a person if they have not willfully open doors for them to do so.

An Explanation to the Ending
The Medium noticed Josh's fingertips were dead.
SHE KNEW WHEN A SPIRIT POSSESSES A BODY PART OF THAT SPIRIT TRANSFERS TO THE BODY. In this case dead fingers.
