Although Avatar was a total remake of Disney's Pocahontas many went to watch it only to find out the rumors where true. James Cameron spent 15 years re-writing the script of the popular Disney film to take place in the future.
Because people where fooled to believe this movie was fresh and really good more money was donated to the box office.
